Orlando Predators report: Amway Center lease close to completion The Orlando Predators also have scheduled a watch party for next week's game at the Milwaukee Iron. 4:50 PM EDT, July 7, 2010
The lease ensuring the Orlando Predators will play the 2011 season at the new Amway Center is near completion. Once the lease is completed, season-ticket renewals and sales for next season are expected to begin.
Watch party set
The Preds will hold a watch party for next week's road game against the Milwaukee Iron. The event will take place at Buffalo Wild Wings in the Waterford Lakes shopping center and will feature appearances from the Prowler dancers and players missing the trip because of injury. The game is scheduled for 8 p.m. on Saturday, July 17. Details: 407-447-3311.
Playoff update
With the Preds' overtime loss to the Cleveland Gladiators on Saturday, the playoff picture has become more crowded.
The Preds (5-7) control their destiny, but two of their final four opponents are also in contention for the fourth and final spot in the American Conference. The Alabama Vipers (6-6) will come to town Friday night, with the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz (5-7) visiting Amway Arena for the final home game of the season on July 24.
For tickets, call 407-648-4444.
Etc.
With his forced fumble last week, recent signee E.J. Burt has moved to fourth on the team's all-time list with 21. Teammate Damon Mason is second with 29. . . . Friday night's game will kick off at 8, not 7:30 as printed on season tickets. The change was made to accommodate the NFL Network. . . . The Tampa Bay Storm are ranked first in the AFL coaches poll, moving up from No. 2 and switching spots with the Spokane Shock. The Preds are 12th, down three spots from last week.
