PHILADELPHIA (AP) - The Philadelphia Phillies called up pitcher Fabio Castro from Triple-A Lehigh Valley before starting a four-game series at the Chicago Cubs on Thursday night.

Right-hander Andrew Carpenter returned to Double-A Reading after pitching a scoreless inning in the Phillies' 6-3 loss to the New York Mets on Wednesday.
