When the Phillies claimed Greg Dobbs on waivers from Seattle in January 2007, it was considered a minor transaction.

Yesterday, Dobbs hit his way into the team's record books. His seventh-inning double off Pirates reliever Tyler Yates did more than drive Carlos Ruiz home with the tying run in what turned out to be a 6-3 win over the Pirates at Citizens Bank Park. It was his 21st pinch-hit of the season, surpassing the mark set by Roy Miller in 1913.
