THE SIGN IS fading now, the paint has begun to flake and the wood is chipped around the edges. The banner, once so proud and taut, is sagging badly.

These are imaginary advertisements for The National League's Best Offense, a crew that was supposed to be based out of Citizens Bank Park and create havoc for pitchers across the baseball landscape this season.
